Connect Cursor or Claude

Copy this text and paste it into Cursor or Claude. That client reads this page, adds the Linear Horizon MCP server, and installs the skills. The first tool call opens Linear Horizon sign-in. Finish sign-in and choose Allow. That grants access.

What the client should do

# Connect Linear Horizon

Do this now. Do not ask the user for an API key or bearer token.

The MCP server authenticates with Linear Horizon sign-in. The first tool call opens that sign-in. The user finishes sign-in and chooses Allow. That grants access.

## 1. Add the MCP server

Name: `linear-horizon`
URL: `https://platform.linearhorizon.com/mcp`
Transport: Streamable HTTP
Headers: none. Do not set Authorization.

### Cursor

Merge this into `~/.cursor/mcp.json`. If the file is missing, create it. If `linear-horizon` already exists, replace only that entry. Keep every other server.

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "linear-horizon": {
      "url": "https://platform.linearhorizon.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### Claude Code

Merge this into the project `.mcp.json` or the user MCP config. If the Claude Code CLI is available you can instead run:

```sh
claude mcp add --transport http linear-horizon https://platform.linearhorizon.com/mcp
```

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "linear-horizon": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://platform.linearhorizon.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### Claude Desktop

Merge the Claude Code JSON above into `claude_desktop_config.json`.

- macOS: `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json`
- Linux: `~/.config/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json`
- Windows: `%APPDATA%\\Claude\\claude_desktop_config.json`

### Claude on the web

If you cannot edit files, tell the user to add a custom connector with the URL `https://platform.linearhorizon.com/mcp` and no token.

## 2. Install the skill

Write this file:

- Cursor: `~/.cursor/skills/linear-horizon/SKILL.md`
- Claude Code: `~/.claude/skills/linear-horizon/SKILL.md`

If this client stores skills in a different folder, use that folder. Do not skip the skill.

Copy the lines between `SKILL START` and `SKILL END`. Do not include those two marker lines.

SKILL START
---
name: linear-horizon
description: Operate a Linear Horizon project through the linear-horizon MCP server. Use when the user mentions Linear Horizon, its agents, knowledge bases, pipelines, or this deployment. Sign-in is the Linear Horizon login. Never ask for or invent an API token.
---

The MCP server is named linear-horizon. It is connected by the Linear Horizon setup page.

When a tool call needs sign-in, ask the user to finish Linear Horizon login in the browser and choose Allow. That grants access. Do not create a personal API token, do not ask the user to paste one, and do not call create_token to bootstrap this connection.

The same server shows different tools for each person. After sign-in, list tools again before choosing one.

- A new sign-in sees create_account and list_services. Call create_account.
- Before payment, the tools are account_status, list_services, and open_payment. open_payment returns the payment screen URL. Ask the person to open it and pay. Do not collect card details.
- After payment, add_service attaches a service id from list_services. List tools again. Provisioning tools for that service are then available. Use those to create the project and the resources that service includes.
- An operator sign-in keeps the project tools (agents, knowledge bases, pipelines). Do not call create_account for an operator.

Before changing a resource, read it. Prefer list and get tools. Update only what the user asked for. Do not delete a resource unless the user was explicit.

Tools run in the project selected on the connection. That is the account default unless the header X-Project-Id was set when the server was added. Do not invent a project id. If the user names one, and you can edit the MCP config, set X-Project-Id to that id.

ui_navigate and ui_fill_form only affect an open Linear Horizon window. From Cursor or Claude they usually do nothing. Use the API tools instead.

Tokens labelled MCP under Members are this connection. Revoke one only when the user asks to disconnect.
SKILL END

## 3. Tell the user

Say that Linear Horizon is connected. The first use opens Linear Horizon sign-in. They should sign in and choose Allow.
